Du latin Eventius, à rapprocher de eventus, "issue, résultat, dénouement".
Prêtre chrétien, il est arrêté, livré aux flammes, et meurt décapité en 119. Si, à Lannebert (22), il est statufié en prêtre au-dessus de sa fontaine, il est, à La Malhoure (22), représenté en vêtements sacerdotaux, coiffé d'une barrette et tenant une palme à la main. On l'invoquait, à sa fontaine, pour guérir les coliques des jeunes enfants.
